This was built in 1280 by Géraud de Maulmont, advisor to the Viscountess of Limoges, Marguerite de Bourgogne. It suffered much damage, particularly during the Revolution; it was dismantled in 1790 and used as a prison; its roof collapsed in 1928 and the tower in 1994. The ruins are an interesting example of a typical castle of the end of the 13th century. From the time of the Middle Ages, a settlement grew up around the castle with a new church and a cemetery (an annexe of the mother church at Lageyrat).
